On February 21 2024, Change Healthcare, a Clearinghouse our EMR (Electronic Medical Record) uses for many functions, experienced a significant systems outage. For us, this disruption severed connections between our billing office and most insurance companies, leading to delays in filing insurance claims and receiving payments.
As a result of this outage, healthcare providers across the country have been affected. The inability to transmit insurance claims and receive payment remittances has caused inconvenience for both healthcare providers and patients.
Despite the challenges posed by the outage, our team has been diligently working to find alternative connection paths to process insurance claims and receive payments from insurance carriers. While we have successfully connected with most insurance payors once again, due to the ongoing recovery efforts some insurance payments may not have been posted to patient accounts yet. Therefore, some patient statements will reflect inaccurate insurance payments. We are aware of the discrepancy and are working as quickly as possible to hand-key payments from insurance companies that cannot be received electronically.
We understand the importance of timely and accurate processing of insurance claims and payments for our patients. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this situation may have caused and assure you that we are actively addressing the issue to minimize further impact on our services.
We appreciate your patience and understanding during this challenging time. Please feel free to reach out to our office if you have any questions or concerns regarding your insurance payments.
